Dolce & Gabbana in Mays Puglia

By

When we land at the airport in Bari, we always sprint to the corner of Avis Preferred. Because we have a little house there, we know the way and our goal is to have the keys to our rental car in our hands before the crowd of tourists does, so we can then put the pedal to the metal. towards Ostuni.

Still, I take a moment to look at the people waiting with signs in hand for ‘flight buddies’, and this time I spot surprisingly many shiny iPads. Dolce & Gabbana is written on them. And I see another one. And another one.

The next day when I see a catwalk being set up in the center of Ostuni, I call my friend Micha, the purveyor of top models. A minute later I get a message. ‘Correct, in Alberobello and Ostuni, do I need to arrange something for you?’ Unfortunately, the show is on Monday (who holds a show on Monday) and the other one on Tuesday so I will be gone by then, but in the meantime, Domenico and Stefano feel incredibly close. And for the occasion, they have gathered some famous friends who are all partying at Borgo Egnazia, the most beautiful hotel from the area.

Who is there? Diana Ross, Helen Mirren (also a lover of Puglia with a house in the region), Lucien Laviscount (Alfie from Emily in Paris), Venus Williams, Kim and Kris Kardashian, Christian Bale, and footballer Erling Haaland, and so on. There is partying and haute couture is being showcased, but especially attention is being drawn to the preservation of the olive trees of Puglia that are threatened by a bacterium.

And that’s why I love Dolce & Gabbana. For their love of Italy that they sing and celebrate in every comma, while they use their fame to ensure that everything will remain as it was.
