Terrible: 2 fans died before Taylor Swift's concert in Rio de Janeiro

That Taylor Swift is fully engaged in her Eras Tour has surely not gone unnoticed; the tickets are hugely popular and sold out in no time. In fact, in America, the entire regular presale hasn't even started because the special presale for registered fans was so overwhelming that all concerts were sold out immediately. And outside the United States, it was no different: in the Netherlands, millions of fans registered to buy tickets first and that could never fit into three evenings at the Johan Cruijff ArenA....
Yep, Taylor Swift is more popular than ever and that is also the case in South America, where she is now. She was supposed to give three concerts in Rio last weekend, on three consecutive days. The first night went completely wrong: there is a heatwave going on and thousands of people fainted due to the heat. This has not been confirmed, but many people are talking about indoor temperatures of nearly 60 degrees — one of the hottest days ever in Rio and with a humidity of 84 percent, it was actually unbearable. Bottles of water were confiscated at the entrance by security and the water that was for sale in the venue was extremely expensive. To make matters worse (and I find this really incomprehensible), all sections in the stadium were general admission. So if you had tickets for the floor, it was standing room only (as we also know in the Netherlands), but if you had tickets for the lower left stand, those were also general admission. The result: Swifties had been camping outside the stadium for days leading up to the concert, trying to secure the best possible spots.
And once you're inside and you have standing tickets, you obviously don't want to give those up. You're afraid of the whole ‘stand up, lose your spot’ thing, so you probably don't want to go get a bottle of water at the bar.
But it got hot in there, incredibly hot. Videos are circulating on TikTok showing that Taylor Swift herself visibly struggled with the heat; she also paused her concert multiple times due to fainting fans or to distribute water.
23-year-old Ana Clara Benevides was also a big fan of Taylor Swift and attended her concert on Friday. To secure a good spot, she arrived eight hours in advance to stand in line with other fans. Shortly after the show began, she indicated at first aid that she was not feeling well, after which she was rushed to the hospital, where she died an hour later due to heart failure.
25-year-old Gabriel Milhomem Santos also traveled to Rio to see Taylor Swift, but did not survive the concert; he was stabbed during a robbery and did not survive. This happened on Copacabana Beach early Sunday morning.
Taylor Swift had to cancel her concert on Saturday due to the bizarre circumstances, while her fans were already in the stadium; this was not received well with a lot of booing. Her concert went ahead on Sunday and she sang Bigger Than The Whole Sky for Ana and Gabriel.
