Want to see: fans help Lewis Capaldi through his show

Last year I saw him at Lowlands and I fell even more in love than I already was. I don't know any artist where the contrast is so great: songs that make you cry from emotion and at the same time make you cry from laughter. Lewis Capaldi is naturally so incredibly funny and that voice... Amazing. He was also quite active on TikTok, where he crowned himself as The King of TikTok. Fully deserved, in my opinion.

He indeed was, because he has been taking it easy lately. At Lowlands, it was already noticeable that he had certain tics with his shoulder. By now we know that Lewis has Tourette's syndrome — he discovered this during his documentary on Netflix (really a huge recommendation by the way). At that time, he already took a break to work on his mental health and three weeks ago he took another break for the same reason.

The only concert he let go ahead was the one at Glastonbury last weekend. Understandably, because Glastonbury is of course the festival of the United Kingdom and it is a huge honor to be able to play there. Additionally, Lewis Capaldi is at the peak of his popularity, so the main stage was completely full for him. In total, about 200,000 visitors attend Glastonbury, so you can imagine what kind of crowd was there.

Unfortunately, Tourette doesn't care at all whether you have a performance. Lewis has often struggled to finish songs because his tics become too severe. It's truly heartbreaking to see, especially because this is a condition that can develop so quickly: at Lowlands, in August 2022, they were still small tics that didn't even stand out, and less than a year later he is suffering a lot from them.

Fortunately, there was the audience at Glastonbury who effortlessly helped him through the song Someone You Loved. I can tell you that I didn't keep it dry while watching this video: so beautiful. RTL Boulevard wrote very tactlessly that ‘his performance did not go smoothly’ and called his show ‘somewhat failed’. I find his show, and this moment, the most beautiful thing I have seen from Glastonbury. And I wish Lewis Capaldi a lot of rest and happiness now — those millions of fans will wait for him.
