Even over Succession season 4

The best series ever made, they say

By
Succession season 4

Now I don't know if I agree with that (I found The Affair and La Meglio Gioventù at least as beautiful), but Succession has certainly set the baseline for series at a whole different starting level.

Actually, no one is nice or good-hearted, they are all hungry. For money, power, justice, and strangely enough, also for love. Yawning in adoration with my jaw usually resting on my high-pile rug, I watched the outfits, the houses, the helicopters, and the jets. This is rich on steroids, with the leitmotif that money doesn't make you happy.

Succession tells the story of media mogul Logan Roy (who is said to be based on Rupert Murdoch) who is nearing the end of his life and his hungry, greedy children Connor (with his first wife) and Kendall, Roman, and Siobhan (Shiv), who are poised like tigers ready to pounce on his billions. Connor has the rather money-sucking hobby of a political career but doesn't feel the need to dethrone his father. Something Siobhan, Kendall, and Roman can't wait to do.

Anyway. What do we see in season 4? A lot of the same, but with interesting plot twists. For example, Tom, Siobhan's husband, has suddenly grown from a loser to the one sitting at the table. The mover, the shaker. And that makes him even interesting to Siobhan again. Furthermore, there are again many lines that you want to write on a card to pull out at awkward moments. Like Roman saying to Kerry, his father's latest right-hand woman: ‘I don't understand you. Maybe you should take my father's d**k out of your mouth.‘ And when she asks them if they want to call their father to congratulate him on his birthday, the children first want to hear from their father himself that he wants that. ‘I can ask him to send you a written message,’ she suggests. ‘We want to hear his voice. If that doesn't work, you can put that d**k back in your mouth now.’

The ease with which these Next Gen Roys raise a bid on a publishing company from 8 billion to 9.5 to 10 is downright entertaining. 10 billion, that's 500 million more. Nice round number too, that calculates so easily.

Another reason to watch is the locations, such as the Norwegian Romsdalen gondola, the Juvet Landscape Hotel, and the Atlantic Ocean Road that you probably still remember from No Time To Die.

And the music, I would like to submit for the Evening of Film (or Series) music.

Oh, it's deliciously entertaining. To be seen on HBO Max and a new episode will be released next week.
