Job alert: Anna Wintour is looking for an assistant

Have you always wanted to have your own The Devil Wears Prada moment? Now you can, because real-life Miranda Priestly is looking for an assistant. And if I am to believe the stories, Anna Wintour is almost exactly like the fierce boss from the famous movie. But yes, you don't just become the boss of Vogue. Do you think you can handle this position without bursting into tears every day? This is what is expected of you.
The position is in New York and the job description actually looks quite ‘standard’ for a position as an assistant. According to insider Amy Odell (who wrote the biography of Anna Wintour), you do need to read between the lines. For example, you are expected to be reachable, but in the broadest sense of the word: always reachable. This meant that her assistants in New York were not allowed to take the subway, because it could very well be that you have no reception on your phone there.
In addition, you naturally have to help Anna Wintour with all her necessities... But also with those of her dogs. Yep: per assistant, it can even happen that you get a certain dog under your care that you then have to look after.
And last but not least, although I find this quite understandable, one of your tasks is to take care of Anna Wintour's bag. You have to take it out of her car every morning and put it back at the end of the day. This bag is called the ‘Aw-bag’, in which she does all the work she still has to finish at home and where there is also a dummy copy of the latest issue of Vogue every time. So a heavy bag and also top secret, so I can imagine that taking care of that bag is an important task.
You can read the full job description here, but you also want to know if it pays well. As Anna Wintour's assistant, you can earn up to $80K per year, the minimum is $60K per year.
I guess there have already been quite a few applications for this position, but it is still open for now. And nowhere does it say that you have to be a resident of the United States to apply... So if you want to make a career switch to the other side of the ocean: this is your chance.
