A word about Kim Cattrall in And Just Like That

Spoiler alert; I found it hugely disappointing

By
Kim Cattrall

Yesterday saw the last And Just Like That of season 2. And despite my initial disappointment by episode 3, I was completely converted. And fan. And groupie. Until Wednesday evening, when I was already gloating about the Thursday when the next episode would be shown. So bad.

Yesterday, I sat armed with wine and chips (on Monday, the belt goes tight again) ready for my last shot of Carrie, Charlotte, Anthony, Miranda and all the fresh friends and girlfriends. Also, this would be the episode where Kim Cattrall would make her cameo. What we knew? A lot of money for a short cameo with the requirement that she didn't have to see the other actresses.

And there it came hear. As Carrie goes through her old flat before being allowed to host 16 friends for a dinner prepared by a Michelin chef, the phone rings. She thinks Aidan, it's Samantha. She tried to fly back and forth from London for an evening, but you guessed it: it didn't work out. She then asks Carrie to put the phone on speaker and thanks the flat. When Carrie asks if Samantha has a British accent, she jokes. ‘But this is not Samantha, this is Annabelle Bronstein’, referring to the rooftop scene in which Samantha illegally leads everyone to the pool at Soho House in Meatpacking under a different name. And it was.

What I thought of it. Rumour around the brand. Fuzz about nothing. I loved Samantha, but find Seema Patel an equally witty successor. Layered moreover. And warmer. And just like in real life, friendships in Carrie con suis pass. So Michael Patrick King (MPK for intimates), I'd say: for season 3, you can keep your hand on the purse strings as far as I'm concerned. Where spending on Kim Cattrall is concerned, that is. Just spend those dollars on smashing outfits and that delectable Carrie flat.

I am already looking forward to it.
