Mays Modecollege: Fashion maniac* Anna Dello Russo

In this freshly dusted column, I discuss a fashion phenomenon. From the 255 of CHANEL to the nose behind an iconic scent. Today the most photographed fashion person in the world: Anna Dello Russo.
Who is Anna Dello Russo?
You could say a living clothing hanger. Anna Dello Russo sees it as her task to showcase as many designer looks as possible. ‘It’s first about the dress, not about my body.’

But that body is being worked on hard, right?
Certainly. She does three hours of yoga a day and lives on a diet of berry juice, almonds, salmon, eggs, and miso soup.
Does she really have an apartment for her clothes?
Definitely. She bought two apartments next to each other: one for Anna and one for her clothes.

How much clothing does she have then?
Well, 4000 pairs of shoes for example, and all the looks she ever wore. What she no longer has are her fur items. She gave those to PETA in 2018. After the death of Franca Sozzani, editor-in-chief of Vogue Italia, she also auctioned off a lot of clothing and donated it to charity.
What about that divorce and her wardrobe?
Anna was once married for six months. It seems that the husband in question didn't like that he had so little space in her wardrobe. She married in Dolce & Gabbana and divorced in Balenciaga. The story goes that she used her veil as a curtain.

How often does she change outfits per day?
On average about five times. But then from head to toe in designer gear and preferably as eye-catching as possible. *Helmut Newton called her a fashion maniac, which I would consider a great compliment. She herself thinks the greatest walking clothes horse. A showpiece, if you ask me.
Is she a silly fashion person?
Certainly not. She studied art and literature at the University of Bari and worked for 18 years under Franca Sozzani for Vogue Italia. Now she is a consultant and editor at large for Vogue Japan.
