OMG: a Mean Girls reunion with the original cast members

Mean Girls

Stop. The. Presses. This is not a drill, I repeat: this is NOT a drill. The cast of Mean Girls has been spotted together for recordings for an actual reunion. And that surprises many fans, because that same cast previously stated earlier this year that they would not appear in the remake that is currently in the works; not on the big screen, but on Broadway. Tina Fey will return as math teacher Ms. Norbury, but further new faces will play the familiar characters: Chris Briney (The Summer I Turned Pretty) as Aaron Samuels, Renée Rapp as Regina George, and Angourie Rice as Cady Heron.

But what was the reason and motivation for Lindsay Lohan, Amanda Seyfried, and Lacey Chabert to want to come together now? Yep, you read that right: Rachel McAdams unfortunately shone in her absence, so she probably declined this job. But why did the other three say yes, after years of not being spotted together?

Logical: money. The three actresses are stepping back into their Mean Girls roles for a Pepsi commercial, which is rumored to be shown during the Super Bowl. Of course, it's typical that they find it perfectly fine to play Cady, Karen, and Gretchen again for a lot of cash, but it's also very typical that I can still get incredibly excited about this, even if it's ‘just’ an advertisement. I indeed put that in quotes, because the spots during the Super Bowl are more mini-movies and sketches than tiring commercials. Yes, I am genuinely looking forward to this.

We still have to wait a bit, because the Super Bowl is not until February 11. That is SO not fetch.
