Fake news or not: Michelin stars leaked again

By

The announcement of the Michelin stars is for our colleagues at FavorFlav what the Oscars, Paris Fashion Week, and the Met Gala are for us. The nec plus ultra, in short. The editorial team was already ready with pen in hand for Monday the 24th to catch the star rain, but suddenly the information leaked out last night. Who will be the happiest chef in the Netherlands?

On Monday, April 24, the new Michelin stars will be officially awarded. But just like two years ago – in 2021 some winners were accidentally announced earlier – there is again a small fuss surrounding the Michelin award. Some stars have leaked out again. But there is doubt in culiland: is it this time not fake news?

Three new two-star restaurants and ten new restaurants with one Michelin star. It's all visible in a leaked photo. For Sidney Schutte of restaurant Spectrum in Amsterdam, it would be a real celebration: he would receive a third star, if the information in the photo is correct. Where the photo comes from and who made and spread it is, by the way, not known.

8 new Bib Gourmands
Four new green stars would also be awarded and 26 new Bib Gourmands. And that last part is what makes many people doubt; Michelin recently announced that there are 8 new Bib Gourmands in the selection of 2023.

Michelin stars fake news?
The spokesperson for Michelin emphasizes that there is no question of (again) a leak: ‘This is not official communication on behalf of Michelin and the information is also incorrect. We announced 8 new Bib Gourmand restaurants in the Netherlands last week and not 26 as the image indicates. For clarity, this is not a leak but fake news.’

Of course, we are very curious about who will receive a star on Monday. More on that later, as we will of course announce it immediately after the official Michelin award. So stay tuned!
