From Amsterdam to Milan Fashion Week

Milan Design week

I was having a coffee with May in Beethovenstraat to quietly go over some ongoing office matters when May came across an email from Samsung. They had asked us to join them in Milan, which I completely forgot to respond to. We decided to call immediately, and five minutes later I provided my passport number and called my beloved to tell her that I would be in Milan in three days. For Samsung, of course.

What Fashion Week is for fashion, Design Week is for interiors and everything related to it. It’s one big madhouse in Italy. The entire interior press and everyone working in that business is eagerly ready to admire the latest of the latest with foam at the corners of their mouths. For my fresh friends at Samsung, the perfect opportunity to showcase their BESPOKE devices to the world.

The common thread of 2023 is sustainability, and rightly so. Samsung presented their vision for a greener future. At their location, we visited the exhibition that took us into a better, minimalist, smarter, and more personal society. We saw devices made primarily from recycled materials (think discarded plastic and fishing nets). The life cycles for products will be improved to be more conscious and sustainable from production to delivery and disposal. Think of less CO2 emissions, eco-friendly packaging, and intelligent technologies in energy savings. The renewed SmartThings service shows how you can easily set all your devices at home to an energy-saving mode: with just a push of a button. I want that right away.

During Milan Design Week, Samsung collaborated with TOILETPAPER. This colorful Milanese brand, known for their unconventional avant-garde style, designed four unique refrigerator designs for Samsung (unfortunately not available in the Benelux). Samsung makes with the BESPOKE collection your own personal creativity possible. Dangerous for someone like me with an intense urge to change my home, so I’m a fan.

Design by YOU!
