Why intelligent people drink more alcohol

The next time I am confronted about my drinking habits, I will push it right under the nose of that person. How come, I drink too much? I am just incredibly intelligent. According to research, that is actually true, and they also know why we (yes, I am just speaking in the we-form) smart ones reach for the bottle faster and more often. this research Because it’s not just about having a drink, no, more intelligent people would go for binge drinking or real drunkenness faster. The reason for this would be traceable back to evolution. Admittedly: I find it a bit far-fetched, but I am not Satoshi Kanazawa nor Jessica Schrader, who have thoroughly researched this.
The reason would be as follows: we have been drinking alcohol for a very long time — it is even estimated that we were already at it 10,000 years ago. However, back then we didn’t drink it, we ate it. And even completely unintentionally and randomly, because we had no knowledge of products that contained alcohol. Something like fermentation in fruits, for example, where alcohol can arise, we didn’t know that back then and thus we unconsciously consumed alcohol.
The production of beer and wine only came much later, around 8000 years before Christ. The stronger drinks came even later: in the year 700 this was ‘discovered’, in the Middle East or China. Fun fact: the word alcohol comes from the Arabic language and was first written as ‘al kohl’.
Okay, evolution then. Experts have discovered that more intelligent people are more involved with it: what is new in evolution, more intelligent people find more interesting and thus engage with it. Seriously, there is a.
whole hypothesis written about it. This view on evolution (and intelligence) is called ‘scientific fundamentalism’. If you then apply that view to alcohol consumption, the logical conclusion is that drinking (strong) alcoholic beverages to get drunk or to binge drink is something of the ‘new age’ or ‘evolutionarily new’. And thus, as the empirical data from the United States and the United Kingdom show, this would mean that more intelligent people drink significantly more than the rest.
Sounds very technical and again: I find it far-fetched. But any excuse to go for it again tonight, I will seize. So here it is: CHEERS.
This is the reason why more intelligent people drink more alcohol.
