The 7 sneaky ‘healthy’ fatteners that you accidentally eat every day

Most read: sneaky fatteners

At the end of the year, we look back at our most read articles. It may be that you missed these, so you can enjoy reading them again now. Under a blanket on the couch, for example. And of course, team Amayzine wishes you the most beautiful days, and may 2023 be a great year for all of us.

Crying over calories I find quite boring. Of course, it shouldn't get too excessive, but you can definitely have that apple pie with whipped cream every now and then.

So just do that. Because that one dessert or having chocolate with tea turns out not to be the worst fatteners, and neither does treating yourself to a croquette sandwich once in a while. No, it's often habits that make you gain weight and not lose it. Wrong habits that have crept in, like taking way too few steps in a day. Too much sitting on your lazy butt and binge-watching Netflix, that idea.

And then there are those sneaky fatteners that seem healthy but really aren't. You would at least be getting fats from them and maybe lose weight less quickly..

Avocado
The avocado is still a favorite, even if you're not an overly hipster. But one avocado quickly contains 250 calories. Good fats, of course, but still fat.

Oil or margarine
You cook something and without thinking, you pour in a splash of olive oil. It looks a bit dry, so hop, another splash. That's easily an extra 100 calories with every meal. Just like that smear of low-fat butter on your cracker: that doesn't always have to be, right?

Dried fruit
What do you think of dried fruit? Seems like a healthy snack, but it isn't. You actually eat much more of it than of ‘real’ fresh fruit.

Nuts
Nuts aren't exactly great for your figure either, because although they are healthy, they are also very fatty. So don't take the pasta variant. A spoonful of peanut butter quickly contains 130 calories, and one spoonful is never enough for your sandwich, so well... If you eat it, spread a thin layer for the same delicious taste experience, because yes, enjoyment is allowed too..

Breakfast cereals
Especially granola and muesli or cruesli are often real sugar bombs. Better to choose oatmeal or Brinta, which contain zero sugars.

Fruit
Fruit is healthy, yes, but it also contains sugars. To avoid the worst fruit sugars, it's best not to eat too many of these sugar bombs: cherries, grapes, figs, pineapple, and bananas. Vary with fruit that contains little sugar like apples, pears, strawberries, kiwis, and oranges.

Salads
Yes, a salad is a better choice in terms of calories than a sandwich, but do you pay attention to the dressing? Often there are a lot of fats and sugars in there. And also think about the goat cheese, nuts, honey, bacon bits, and dressing. When you add everything together, that's a whole lot of fats and a whole lot of calories. But it's tasty, that's also true. You can't just eat dry lettuce leaves like a rabbit every day...

I always say: just eat a bit normally. In moderation. Not excessively much and certainly not too little, that won't make you a nicer person.
