And Just Like That is coming
And this is what we can learn from the looks
If you're not doing it for the storylines, you at least want to see And Just Like That (formerly known as Sex and the City) for your New York fix and your shot of outfit inspiration. I went on a quest for the looks (something to do with a bad job and someone who has to do it) and filtered out some crucial style lessons for the upcoming season.
1. Converted Closet is the word
Converted Closet is the label of Kate McGuire, according to the stylists of Sex and the City a ‘real life Carrie, who has made it her business to make vintage clothing current’. It’s all about rediscovering old pieces and giving them a new life with a twist. In the clothing category, Carrie wears her wedding dress by Vivienne Westwood again, but now with a long-sleeved top. And Manolo’s in the same color as the top. The amazing pilot suit that Sarah Jessica Parker wears is from McGuire's brand Converted Closet and it’s fabulous.
2. Make a statement with bags
Carrie does this of course with a Baguette from Fendi, but also with the Pigeon clutch from J.W. Anderson. A steal for Carrie's standards: for 650 pounds it’s yours.
3. Wear a color from head to toe
We have never seen Carrie, mai, jamais, never in a color, but this season it’s going to happen. Completely fuchsia purple from hat, dress, bag, to open-toed shoes and it’s beautiful. Seema Patel (Carrie's realtor friend) we see from top to bottom in stunning cream. Bold choice in not-so-clean New York (we know the pain passing buses can cause), but to quote Estelle Cruijff: ‘At least come in beautifully, then it doesn’t matter how you leave the place.’
4. Layering is the word
So layer over layer over layer over layer. Long dress, cardigan, coat; it can and should all be done and is of course immediately the ideal city wear.
5. Dip-dye summer dresses are back
I already saw Carrie wear two and they gave just that hippie-ish touch to her look. That together with a sunkissed face and her beautiful long hair made Carrie for me a huge reason to watch again. Looking like that at 58... Where do I sign?
