Political Passport: Henri Bontenbal, CDA

The red pencils are sharpened, the ballots are folded. Just a few more days and we will dive back into the voting booth. Since we are all floating and fluttering, here’s a short political passport of the party leaders to guide you a little in your choice.

Name: Henri Bontenbal
Born: November 10, 1982 in Rotterdam
Zodiac sign: Scorpio
Relationship: married and father of two sons (little known further)
Grew up in: Rotterdam. Henri is the fourth in a family of eight children.
Study: Physics at Leiden University and became interested in sustainability towards the end of his studies
Fan of: Bontenbal plays piano and saxophone and is particularly charmed by the Russian composer Rachmaninoff
Passions: Bontenbal has always been excessively engaged with sustainability and with thinking of ways in which we can achieve climate goals.
Fun fact: submitted a motion against the sale of loot boxes that encouraged children to buy things with uncertain outcomes through computer games, all to combat gambling addiction among young people. The motion was adopted.

Did you know: Henri Bontenbal has switched from the Reformed Church to the Dutch Reformed Church
Another fact: he is a descendant of Claes Michielsz Bontenbal, who was involved in a conspiracy against Maurice of Nassau and was beheaded for that reason.
