Science explains: why younger men are attracted to older women
You know, you do hear that there is some age difference in a relationship. Nothing strange about that. But, hold on. There is a new hype: younger men are massively seeking older women.
And that is surprising in the world of love.
How come? Younger men want women with life experience.
According to a large-scale American survey, 34% of women over 40 are in relationships with younger men, indicating that there is a significant number of men looking for older women. And that number has only been increasing lately. There used to be a taboo on it, but that has since faded. Nowadays, any age can be with any age (thankfully). That’s why it occurs more: it is simply more accepted by society.
There is another reason why younger men choose older women: research shows that intelligence is one of the most important traits that men look for. Although age is not a direct indicator of someone’s intellect, of course, it is generally true that a woman with more life experience also comes across as ‘smarter’. So that 25-year-old man is more than happy to go for a 41-year-old woman.
The woman with a few more birthday candles on her cake usually stands strong in her shoes, has her affairs in order, knows what she wants (sexy), and knows herself well. She also beats around the bush less than those peers of the roughly ten years younger man: she is ready for a serious relationship, while women in their early twenties may not be yet. She has a wealth of work experience, and younger men find that attractive because they are still at the beginning of their careers – they can look up to her and learn from her. Older women are also generally more confident about themselves and their own bodies (usually), and that also creates that fierce attraction needed to ignite a serious relationship.
According to a study, 81% of women are open to a relationship with a man who is ten years younger than they are. So: age says very little when it comes to love. It’s beautiful that we live in a time where so much is allowed and possible. Love and let love.
