Science says: McDonald's fries are indeed addictive

Say wine, snacks or haute cuisine and the gourmands at online food magazine FavorFlav know where to drink, how to eat it and what to cook. This time our cheffies serve you: McDonald's fries are addictive.
Maybe this falls a bit into the category of ‘what did you think?’, but it's proven: McDonald's fries are addictive. And yes, we already knew that. You knew it, I knew it. Nowadays, I always order just a medium meal and never a large anymore, because even if I'm not hungry anymore, those fries always get eaten, no matter how big the portion is. So they are addictive.
And that's not because of the kilo of salt that goes on them, and it's not because they are just so deliciously fresh (because they are always soggy but that's okay) and no, it also has nothing to do with the American fry sauce. So what is the secret?
And the secret ingredient is...
In the fries from McDonald's, there is also something they call ‘natural beef flavor‘. No stress: it's not that there is actually meat in it, but this beef flavor mainly consists of hydrolyzed wheat and hydrolyzed milk. This produces MSG (also known as ve-tsin ).
It has been proven in studies with rats that they eat as much as 40 percent more when there is MSG in the food. Additionally, MSG also makes you feel less full quickly, so you keep eating. Which is always the case for me when I go to McDonald's.
And the stupid thing is: now that I know they intentionally make those fries so addictive, I still crave them. Damn you, Maccie.
