The beauty looks from the Met Gala 2023

‘It was all very Parisian’, and that’s how it should be if you ask me. If the theme is the iconic Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty, then you really have to try hard not to fit the theme. Especially in terms of beauty looks: keep it simple. This time no heavy dark eyes, heavily made-up cheeks or lips, and you could see that reflected in most celebs on the red carpet. Of course, there was a personal touch, like with the beautiful heavily pregnant Rihanna, who wore a stunning ‘Uncensored lip paint’ red lipstick, which looked perfect with her white Valentino look. Naturally, she was full glam with her own Fenty collection: why use another brand when your own products are the best, right?

Kim K was in the chair of Makeup by Mario, one of her regular makeup artists who loves a nice layer, because she had no less than fifteen different products on her face (compared to Rihanna’s ‘only’ eight). Despite the amount, we thought she looked stunning, with the Raspberry blush applied high on her cheeks for a lifting effect, the Soft Nude natural gloss with a brown lip liner (named Travis) that perfectly matched her light brown smoky eyes. All of course from his own brand: Makeup By Mario.

Sister Kylie Jenner looked surprisingly natural in a typical Chanel look: with a thin layer of mascara, pinkish matte lipstick, and dreamy blush. Makeup artist Ariel did a great job again.

The look of Kristen Stewart was striking with her short, somewhat rock-like hairstyle and her porcelain natural face. Only her eyebrows were adorned with a straight brown line.

Florence Pugh also had a ‘hair debut’, as she had shaved her beautiful blonde locks down to a buzz cut. Especially for the Met Gala, because a few days before she was still sporting another new hairstyle: a fringe.

Doja Cat was transformed into Karl's Choupette – even her nails had an extra sharp point and on her face was a custom-made prosthetic with a cat snout, and she wore the most beautiful pink lipstick from Charlotte Tilbury.

I want the hair of the incredibly beautiful Margot Robbie too: the color, the shine, the volume, and classic Hollywood waves, can I have this every day? I'm going to make an appointment at the hairdresser now.

Just a little about the nails.
Rita Ora's nails were quite peculiar. She had very long chains attached to her nails that, according to her nail stylists, were meant to represent the famous Chanel chains. Clever idea, but not really comfortable, it seems to me. On Jennifer Lopez's index finger, you could see a tiny Chanel logo in black rhinestones; this was also seen on several other celebs, and I dare say we will see this more often now. Rihanna had the same flower in mini on her nails, and the well-known Emily in Paris actress Ashley Park went for dark black nails with silver rings. A bit less pretty if you ask me, but it did look good with her dress.
