Amayzine's Choice: The favorite sun products of our editorial team

Taking care of our skin is an essential part of the day, especially when it comes to protecting your skin from the harmful rays of the sun. With all those different types of sun protection on the market, we understand that it can be difficult to find that one perfect tube. To make it a bit easier for you, we at the editorial team have focused on our favorite sun protection products that we would like to share with you. Not that we really need it with this dreary, almost autumn-like April weather, but it’s better to be prepared, right?

‘If you don’t want to go through life looking like a wrinkled little apple with brown spots, it’s especially important to apply sun protection factors. Every day, even in winter. Here speaks your beauty Jehovah. I have quite a sensitive skin, so I don’t like to experiment with products. For my face, I use the suncare from Uncover by Jetske Ultee. I then immediately order a very large bottle for my children, which I put in the picture all summer long and which everyone can use to their heart's content. For my body, I sometimes experiment with new finds from Lancaster, and another wonderful product is the sun protection factors from Sisley. It costs a lot, but it works great on your towel, and I haven’t had sun rash since.’

‘If I’m protective of anything, it’s my skin. I used to go under the tanning bed so often; I really think I wasted all my pigment that way. There could be no more brown, as if I was sleeping under it. With all the knowledge we have now, I really regret that. Now I hardly ever lie in the sun anymore. I have to try to limit the damage. What I find incredibly handy is the Brush on Block, a transparent powder stick that lightly spreads over your skin. Perfect for on the go and over your makeup. In the early morning, I apply a rich nourishing cream, like one of my favorites from Lancaster. For my body, I use Coola, for that all-over piña colada vacation feeling. For my children, I use Derma, without perfume, alcohol, and parabens.‘

‘Give me some sunshine and I’m set. Nothing gives me more energy than the sun. And where snow disappears in the sun, it’s the same for both Enzo (my two-year-old son) and myself when it comes to our restless winter skin. Where he has eczema, I often have restlessness with the accompanying outbreaks. But in combination with the right sun protection products, our best medicine is not prescribed by any dermatologist but is simply available for free from the weather gods. From the very best lip balm from Paula’s Choice and the finest Elizabeth Arden Defense Stick to our love for Lancaster and Biodermal on #1 for Enzo.’

‘I have a normal to dry skin that is not prone to acne (I realize how lucky I am with that) and I like to wear makeup. I also have a very light skin, so applying good sun protection daily is essential. But searching for something that protects, doesn’t smell too strong, and also looks good under my makeup turned out to be a mission impossible that I was not prepared for. While I love the Nivea Sun Protect & Hydrate (always factor 50) for my body, this does not work at all under my oh-so-beloved layer of makeup. A while ago, I finally found the liquid gold when I discovered the sun protection line from Dr. Leenarts for my face. A gem for sensitive skin due to the careful composition of ingredients. It spreads well, absorbs quickly, and is invisible under your favorite foundation. I’m a fan.’
Nivea Sun Protect & Hydrate Sunspray SPF50+, €12.25 Nivea

‘My friends now call me the SPF police, and I guess colleague Sophie from the oh-so-beautiful Italiamo.nl thinks of me every time the sun shines. Through the skin scan at Annelijn from Skin Clinic I found out that my skin is really damaged by the sun. This is not so strange, because years ago I only applied sun protection when I felt the sun burning on my skin; too late, as you understand. Since then, I have started applying every day, preferably with one that absorbs very quickly, because I like to wear makeup and with a baby boy of eight months, I have a little less time. The SPF50 from L’Oréal is ultra-light and absorbs so quickly that I can immediately start on my makeup. The Silky Calming Stick from Thank You Farmer goes in my bag. I use this non-sticky stick all day over my makeup: ideal. So I have a few more favorites for my normal to dry skin, and you can shop those below.’

Revitalift Clinical Anti-UV Fluid SPF 50, €29.95 now €15,- L’Oréal Paris
Sun Project Silky Calming Sun Stick SPF50+, €24,- Thank You Farmer

Advanced Brightening UV-Defense SPF50, €47,- SkinCeuticals

‘Unfortunately, I am not blessed with an easy skin and I am always looking for the right products, especially when it comes to the right sun protection. The first weeks that the sun shows itself well, I suffer from sun allergy, which manifests as an itchy skin with blisters. Fortunately, after a long search, I found the right sun protection. It’s the sunscreen lotion SPF50 from Biodermal for sensitive skin that calms, protects, and cares incredibly well. Unfortunately, it’s not cheap, but be sure to grab it, just like I do, when it’s on sale. For my face, I also use Biodermal. This brand actually comes back more often in my skincare routine. For this, I use the SPF50 sensitive skin sunscreen for the face. A big plus is that it works hydrating, is not greasy, and therefore is also very good to use as a base under your makeup. Also important: some sunscreens can sometimes cause pimples on your face. That is not the case with this one, allowing you to rock the makeup-free look perfectly on your beach days. Win-win.’

‘With my oily, acne-prone skin, finding a sunscreen without oil is a must. For that reason, the La Roche-Posay Oil Control Fluid with SPF50 is my go-to. Because of the mattifying effect of the cream on my face, it’s indispensable in my morning routine, because now I don’t look like a disco ball anymore. Always nice.’
