Oh god: tickets for Fyre Festival 2 are on sale

The greatest party that never happened, or Fyre Festival, might actually still happen. This is not some particularly late April Fool's joke: a second edition is indeed coming and tickets are now on sale. It is seriously being organized again by Billy McFarland, who received a six-year prison sentence for his dubious practices that defrauded investors out of millions of dollars. I seriously wonder how he scraped together the money to finance this second edition, but maybe I don't want to know that at all.
According to McFarland himself, who announced the news of Fyre Festival 2 via TikTok, it has been ‘the absolute wildest journey’ to reach this point and he concocted all of this while he had to spend seven months in solitary confinement.
‘I wrote a fifty-page plan on how we could tackle this overall interest and demand for Fyre and how we could use my ability to bring people from all over the world together to make the impossible possible.’ Oookay Billy, take it easy. You can watch the TikTok at the bottom; he really sounds like a salesman who uses a lot of words but doesn't actually say much.
He does have the wildest plans, because besides Fyre Festival 2, he also plans to turn the failed first edition into a Broadway musical, with music artists instead of actors, and he is also busy with various documentaries. Busy little man that McFarland, but I do wonder if all the victims have gotten their money back..?
Maybe that will still happen with the proceeds from Fyre Festival 2, because those ticket prices are not exactly cheap either. The first hundred tickets went on sale for ‘only’ 499 dollars, but they are already sold out. The most expensive tickets will later go over the counter for 7,999 dollars. Really no idea who is crazy enough to spend so much money on a festival whose first edition never took place; it's actually quite bold that they dare to call it part two at all.
But hey, for that 8K you do get a bizarrely good lineup… Right? You’ll have to wait and see, because no names have been announced yet. I also seriously wonder which artists would say ‘yes’ to this, but probably everything is for sale, so also good acts. And who knows, maybe visitors this year will get more than just a cheese sandwich? That would be insane.
If you still have interest in going here, block December 6, 2024 in your calendar. That is the date on which Fyre Festival 2 will take place, somewhere in the Caribbean Islands. You can score the tickets here, although I would definitely take out a cancellation insurance.
