Oh God: a new edition of Fyre Festival is coming

‘The huge party that never happened’ went completely viral in 2016; by now we all know the story. Fyre Festival was supposed to be the weirdest, coolest, most horrific festival of all time, but it never got off the ground. Models were flown in to promote it beforehand; among others, we saw Kendall Jenner, Bella Hadid, and Hailey Bieber (then still Baldwin) on luxury yachts, urging us to go to Fyre Festival.
At that point, it was already very clear that Fyre Festival would not be a cheap weekend getaway. But hey, you would have some really cool artists, one big party in the Bahamas, and gigantic villas for you and your friends. What is 10K or more then? At least that’s what many people thought, because ticket sales were going really well. Fyre Festival was supposed to last two weekends on a private island, but during the arrival of the first weekend, it quickly became clear that the luxury villas had been swapped for army tents and the star dinners for sandwiches with chemical cheddar cheese. Bummer.
Of course, the documentary was not long in coming and the founder ended up behind bars. Billy McFarland worked with rapper Ja Rule on Fyre Festival, and after that whole debacle, it quickly became clear that Billy was actually just a con artist; after the failed festival, he started working with shady credit cards. Typical.
But hey, that same Billy McFarland has been released and he already has grand plans: to organize Fyre Festival 2. He tweeted that it is ‘finally happening’ and that people can send him a tweet if they want to be invited. Will it be a success this time? I really think the chances are very slim. But hey, maybe he can get some inspiration in the Netherlands, because here we camp every year just for fun at festivals like Lowlands, Pinkpop, and Down The Rabbit Hole.
🔥 Fyre Festival II is finally happening.
Tell me why you should be invited.
