Oh no: by the end of this year we might be without internet for weeks

How do we do that again without internet? As a millennial I can still dream of the dial-up tone for the internet, I also remember how incredibly expensive it was and the moments when you were unreachable at home by phone, which was also a drama. We didn't have mobile phones yet. Everyone born after 2000 probably sees this as the equivalent of the Stone Age, but this is just how our millennial youth looked.
But to be fair: I really couldn't live without the internet now. Even when I'm on vacation in a country outside the EU, I prefer to buy a bundle so I'm always online. Yes, slightly phone addicted... Or online addicted. But I guess many are like me, and for them, this will also be terrifying news.
According to The Telegraph there is actually an end to the eleven-year solar cycle (the Solar Maximum) coming much sooner than expected; it would already be at the end of this year. And that means we are going to have a lot of solar storms, which could cause us to be without internet for weeks. Even worse: we will have no power at all, so your phone's 5G will also go down since you can't charge your phone anymore, because you obviously need power for that. PANIC.
But that's not all: all air traffic will also come to a halt and astronauts and satellites will be blasted out of space (that sounds really scary to me). The animals on Earth will also be quite thrown off by this end of the Solar Maximum.
Interestingly: a solar cycle always lasts eleven years, but this time it seems to be different. The beginning of the previous cycle was in 2019, and it seems that it is ending earlier for the first time now. I find that quite concerning, but there is one silver lining: we hardly noticed it in 2019. Hopefully, it will be manageable this time too, and we can still keep messaging each other. And of course, read Amayzine...
