Dreaming of: a white Christmas this year not excluded

The weather forecasts are usually not accurate. Too bad. But well, we remain hopeful. And this year we are especially hopeful, because according to meteorologists we actually have a chance of a white Christmas.

‘It's a close call,’ say the experts.

So daydream away in that white handsome world full of snow and warm chocolate and hats and cozy snow boots. Can you finally wear those too, huh? In seven days it's Christmas Day. Then the weather forecasts will of course come pouring in. Every year you read again: ‘Chance of a white Christmas virtually nil.’ This year is completely different.

It's getting colder
Showers are predicted and if it's just cold enough, they will be snow showers. As is often the case in the Netherlands, it could also just rain boringly. The boundary of that cold air mass can also just turn out wrong, causing it not to be cold enough in our country. In that case, it will be too warm and rain will fall instead of (wet) snowflakes. “But it's certainly not a done deal. It will still be quite exciting.” The last white Christmas was in 2010; it unfortunately doesn't happen often.

And if it doesn't work out with the Christmas days, don't be sad. The forecasts are that it will become bitterly cold from the second week of January. Snow is coming.
