Say wine, snacks or haute cuisine and the gourmands at online food magazine FavorFlav know where to drink, how to eat it and what to cook. This time our cheffies serve you: You can now vote for your favorite wine bar of the year.

For the eighth time already, the award for Best Wine Bar of the Year is being presented this year — and you can now cast your vote. Just like in previous years, 150 wine bars have been selected to compete for the title, after which only 25 remain, and the professional jury will get to work. 15 wine bars make it to the final round and will be visited unannounced by this jury (which includes FavorFlavs Sharon) until the end of the year to determine one ultimate winner.

But you can have quite an influence on that by voting now via this link. Do it quickly, as online voting closes on December 3rd. In recent years, more than 12,000 consumers have made their voices heard by voting for their favorite wine bar, so make sure to let your voice be heard now as well. Extra fun: a winner will be drawn from all voters who will receive a wine tasting with South African wines at their favorite wine bar.

THE PREVIOUS WINE BAR OF THE YEAR WINNERS
Last year, Paskamer Amsterdam took home the first prize, fully deserved if you ask me. Every wine lover in and around Amsterdam has surely heard of this place, where they also host wine tastings and High Wines (which I love). But my goodness, it is quite difficult to choose among those 150 contenders. Many of my favorites are among them in our capital (such as GlouGlou, Barrica and Wine Bar Shiraz – which has also won the grand prize before), but I also have very fond memories of Wine Bar Petit Bardot in Breda. Yes, it’s like Sophie’s Choice.

I wouldn’t want to be in the shoes of the jury, which, as mentioned, consists of among others our very own Sharon — so I wish her a lot of success with this choice. The Wine Bar of the Year is an initiative of Pitch PR, and that is definitely a good platform if you are looking for the best wine bars throughout the Netherlands. And there are only more each year, as wine bars are still on the rise — even more justified that one is highlighted each year.

SOUTH AFRICAN WINE IN THE SPOTLIGHT
The top 15 wine bars are judged by the jury on atmosphere, wine list, and service. And this year, South African wines are in the spotlight. Not only is a South African wine tasting given away among the voters, but the winner of the Wine Bar of the Year election will receive a unique box with the six highest-rated wines from the Platter Guide 2023, the South African wine guide.
