Oh oh oh Madonna
You still remain a little dragon

On Saturday I'm going. To Madonna, that is. And I'm looking forward to it. The setlist of songs that Madonna will play (available on Spotify under ‘Madonna Celebration Tour Setlist’) is exactly how you want it: everything you can sing along to word for word, even if they woke you up in your REM sleep. I bought the tickets six months ago, so that slightly exorbitant amount of 190 euros I've already forgotten. That she's actually a little dragon who can say terribly unkind things (do you remember Kevin Costner in ‘In Bed With Madonna’? Or those two songwriters of ‘Like A Virgin’ who finally met her after twenty years and said: “We wanted to meet you for so long” and Madonna replied: “Well, now you have” and walked away? And those somewhat odd reels on Instagram, well, we just laugh about that too. You forgive her all that because hey, it's Madonna. And a star without airs is just so boring. So of course we're going. And we're excited.
Olga, my Pilates professor who I'm going with, couldn't wait and has already seen the show in London. Since then, she's been walking on a cloud.
So Saturday will be blissful in the Ziggo Dome. For sure. Really. But yesterday Ticketmaster sent an email to everyone who is eagerly waiting to temper the enthusiasm a bit. That Madonna has a tendency to start late. In Milan, I believe it was an hour and forty minutes late, and in Antwerp, the show started an hour and a half later, so the chance that the show will end at 11:00 PM is small. That's not very kind to your fans. People are waiting in a bare hall (there's no opening act) and can't take public transport home anymore. That it happens once: fine, but structurally? That's just not nice.
Do you know that feeling when you meet up with a friend after a long time, with whom the contact often went a bit stiff, and suddenly while making the appointment you understand again why you hadn't seen each other for so long? That's exactly what I'm feeling a bit with Madonna right now.
Come on, Madonna. If you can put together such a fantastic world tour at 65, that shows determination and discipline. I'm sure you'll manage to start your show on time too.
