Okay, a ticket might be quite expensive. Because you don't just find tropical vacation destinations around the corner. But then you also get something for it. Because there, everything doesn't cost a dime.

So make sure to spend your winter months here.

1. Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka is an island nation in South Asia, known for its lush landscapes, rich culture, and breathtaking beaches. Despite its growing popularity among tourists, it remains an affordable destination. You can enjoy world-famous beaches like Mirissa and Unawatuna, go on safaris in national parks like Yala, and explore the historic cities of Kandy and Galle. You can easily find affordable boutique hotels to stay in, and the food is delicious and incredibly cheap. Try to eat at local restaurants, also known as ‘rice and curry’ houses, where you can get a delicious meal for just a few euros.

2. Bali
Bali is a favorite vacation destination for many travelers, and although the island is known for its luxury resorts, there are also plenty of affordable options. Bali offers a range of budget-friendly accommodations, from cozy homestays to stylish guesthouses. Outside the tourist areas like Kuta and Seminyak, you will find beautiful undiscovered beaches, rice fields, and temples where you hardly encounter tourists. Rent a scooter to explore the island. It’s a cheap way to travel from one side of the island to the other and gives you the freedom to discover remote places.

3. Nicaragua
Nicaragua, located in Central America, is an emerging destination for travelers seeking unspoiled nature and affordable vacations. The country offers everything you expect from a tropical destination: from volcanoes and rainforests to beautiful beaches on both the Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean Sea. Cities like Granada and León have a rich colonial history and are affordable to stay in. Don’t forget to visit the Corn Islands, a lesser-known but stunning archipelago off the coast of Nicaragua. Flights to these islands are cheap, and accommodation is even cheaper.

4. Thailand
Thailand has long been known as a cheap destination, but many people primarily associate it with busy tourist spots. However, the country has so many islands and beaches that are not overrun by tourists and where you can still stay for little money. Koh Lanta, Koh Tao, and the islands in the Trang Archipelago are some examples of affordable tropical paradises. Eat where the locals eat, such as at night markets and street stalls. Here you can enjoy delicious food for just a few euros.

5. Philippines
Well, it is quite a long flight. But very beau-ti-ful. With over 7,000 islands, the Philippines offer nearly endless possibilities for a tropical vacation. While popular destinations like Boracay and Palawan can be a bit more expensive, there are plenty of other islands where you can enjoy the sun and sea for little money. Siargao, known as the surfing paradise of the Philippines, offers affordable accommodations and a laid-back atmosphere. Islands like Cebu and Bohol also have beautiful beaches and it hardly costs anything.

6. Madagascar
Madagascar, the large island off the east coast of Africa, is a destination full of exotic nature and unique species. Although the flight there can be a bit more expensive, the costs on the island are very low. You can enjoy unspoiled beaches, beautiful national parks, and a unique culture without spending much money. Local markets are also a great place to eat cheaply and deliciously.
