7 easy tricks to feel a bit more confident about yourself

By

You know, we are all insecure. To a certain extent. About what we do in life, about who we are, about what we say and what we don't say. How can you be a bit more sure of yourself?

Where does that uncertainty come from?

Self-confidence is something that many people strive for, but it is not always easy to achieve. Everyone feels insecure at times, but the good news is that there are simple ways to give your self-confidence a boost. With a few small adjustments in your daily life, you can quickly feel more confident about yourself.

1. Focus on your good sides
So simple, but we always notice those fat bubbles in the mirror. Or those dents in your legs. Or the flabby arms, or the big nose, the pimple... You name it. That's just how women are: a bit too negative about themselves. What if you focus mainly on what you do like about yourself today? What do you see? Do you see yourself shining in that new, beautiful skirt? Own it.

2. Think about your body language
How you use your body has a big impact on how you feel. Try to sit or stand up straight, with your shoulders back and your head up. This not only gives a powerful appearance, but your brain also responds to this posture by making you feel more confident. Research shows that ‘power poses’ like stretching your arms wide or placing your hands on your hips can give you a boost of confidence, even when you feel nervous.

3. Take good care of yourself
Yes, that includes your insides too. Not just the makeup on the outside is enough. Taking good care of yourself has a direct impact on your self-image. By eating healthy, exercising regularly, and getting enough sleep, you give your body the energy it needs to function optimally. It's hard to feel confident when you feel tired, unhealthy, or exhausted. By making small adjustments to your daily routine, like a morning walk or eating more fresh vegetables, you'll quickly feel physically and mentally stronger.

4. Set a small, achievable goal
Not every day has to be a ten. But if you achieve something small every day, you'll eventually get much further. Standing still is a waste. Sometimes uncertainty feels overwhelming because you don't know where to start. Setting small, achievable goals can help create a sense of control and accomplishment. By focusing on something small and achieving it, you get a boost of confidence. Every goal you achieve, no matter how small, helps you realize that you are capable of doing things. This can range from a short task at work to learning a new skill.

5. Keep positive people close to you
The people you surround yourself with have a huge influence on how you feel. If you constantly hang out with negative people or those who bring you down, it's hard to feel good about yourself. Try to spend time with people who support you, who are positive, and who encourage you to bring out the best in yourself. Positive relationships give your self-confidence a significant boost, simply by knowing that there are people who believe in you.

6. Remember the fun things
Think about all the things you have done well. And look at photos where you look fabulous. Then you just feel better about yourself: you deserve to be here. And not every moment of every day are you at your best: nobody is. Not even the biggest models and artists in the world.

7. See yourself at the top
Visualization is a powerful technique to boost your self-confidence. By imagining yourself being successful in a certain situation, you give your brain the signal that you can handle it. This can help you feel more relaxed and confident when you actually find yourself in that situation. Whether it's a presentation at work, a sports competition, or a social situation — by picturing everything going well in advance, you increase your chances of success.
