Whut: this airline wants to abolish checked baggage

To be completely honest, I find traveling with hand luggage by far the most ideal. Of course, because you don't have to wait for your suitcases, but it also gives me less stress on vacation. That way, I don't have thousands of clothing options for a night out, just one or two. Bikinis and swimsuits? Same here. Every time I check in a large suitcase, I realize again that I've packed five times as many clothes as I actually needed. And three pairs of shoes too many.
Ryanair is completely done with that; they even want to abolish all checked baggage. That does worry me a bit, because as hand luggage, you can only bring something the size of a wallet with Ryanair, unless you pay (almost everyone does that), but what if it's already way over full? Then the luggage still has to be checked in, right? No: there's a good chance that the hand luggage is then ‘sold out’.
Is that only bad news? Certainly not, because by saving on baggage handling staff and also reducing their ecological footprint (the plane is lighter), Ryanair promises to make tickets even cheaper. Look, that's great, although Ryanair tickets are usually already not a fortune.
When this new rule will come into effect is not yet known, but if you have a city trip planned with Ryanair, it might be wise to wait a bit longer before booking. It can only get cheaper.
