Adele is quitting again

I knew it a little bit, of course. Adele doesn’t really like performing, so the chance that she would be on stage at the Ziggo Dome in three years was negligible. That was also the reason why I literally spared no expense or effort when extra concerts were announced in Munich. I had to be there.

But the message from yesterday felt like a big, heavy door closing.
During her last concert, Adele said that she will perform ten more times in Las Vegas, but after that, it will be over and out in terms of performances.

“I have really enjoyed performing for nearly three years, which is the longest I’ve ever done and probably the longest I’ll ever do. I have 10 more shows after this back in my residency… But after that, I will not see you for an incredibly long time.”

Does she not enjoy performing then?

That is the question that comes to mind. I think she really loves live performing itself, but it naturally brings immense responsibility and pressure. And you are away from home for months, which is difficult for someone who loves the little things in life. Moreover, she has a son and a new fiancé with whom she wants to spend time. So it is not a lightly made decision. Of course, she almost cried when she spoke these words.

“It has been amazing, I just need a rest,” she continued. “I have spent the last seven years building a new life for myself and I want to live my new life that I’ve been building. I will miss you terribly.”

And we will miss her. Terribly. Luckily, we have the albums and we are waiting for the broadcast of the live recording and the most beautiful memories.

And I want to stay with Adele. Just, two nights or so. That should be possible, right?
