Anouk is under fire for transphobic message on Threads

Singer Anouk is currently facing a lot of criticism after she posted a message on Threads. And understandably so, because the message she posted is quite bizarre to say the least. I always wonder what the thought process is when someone posts something like this on social media; there are so many steps where you could think, this is complete nonsense that I'm putting online?
Anouk certainly didn't have that thought and posted a photo of her toilet, filled with toilet paper and blood. Yes, Anouk is on her period and that is what makes her ‘a real woman’: her words.
‘Chopping your peepee off doesn’t make you a woman. But this will. Am I cancelled now?’ is the text she added to the photo. Yes, just before the weekend, Anouk decided to come out as transphobic. It’s obviously nonsense what she writes here and fortunately, that’s also reflected in the comments on her post.
What I find remarkable is that you know in advance that you will receive criticism for such a heavy statement, so why would you post this? And then still add the somewhat provocative ‘am I cancelled now?’ at the end. Being transphobic is not something to brag about, but Anouk clearly didn’t get that memo today.
Tim Hofman is one of the people who responded on Threads, and I completely agree with what he says. Maybe Anouk can look up the official definition of ‘woman’, according to EIGE (European Institute for Gender Equality): ‘Female human being; a person assigned a female sex at birth, or a person who defines herself as a woman.’ Menstruation, including Anouk's, has little to do with that.
