These are the 4 subtle signals that someone has borderline

By

Borderline is not something to joke about; it is a serious condition. But you have it, like all mental illnesses, in different degrees.

So you can have it extremely or in a milder form.

If you are unsure whether someone is showing subtle signs of borderline, pay attention to these four signals. They will definitely show you something of someone who has traits of that personality disorder.

1. People with borderline personality disorder often struggle to maintain stable and healthy relationships. They can have intense and tumultuous relationships, where they can quickly go from intense love to intense rejection. They are also like this in friendships: this few months best friend who is everything and then suddenly it’s over and they never see that person again.

2. They are very impulsive. Impulsive behaviors such as reckless driving, excessive use of drugs or alcohol, binge eating, reckless sexual activities, and self-harm can occur in people with borderline personality disorder. It can also be in a milder form: suddenly making a crazy decision. Suddenly quitting a job. Suddenly having sex with the neighbor.

3. They are very emotional, but really with huge peaks and deep valleys. People with this disorder can feel quickly and intensely upset, angry, or anxious. These emotions can change rapidly and can be difficult to control. They always express it; they never keep their feelings to themselves. They are also very afraid of being abandoned.

4. People with borderline think in black and white: it is either terribly bad and stupid, or it is wonderfully fun and insanely cool. There is nothing in between. This is really a signal of someone with a milder form of the condition. It is super or it is disgusting. It can never be ‘just’ or ‘medium’.

Do you know someone who can check off these symptoms? Then it still doesn’t have to mean that someone has borderline, but these are handy things to pay attention to if you are unsure whether someone needs psychological help.
