This is the average age at which most people get divorced

You'd rather not think about it, because you? You are different. You will stay together forever, despite the fact that you know that almost 40 percent of marriages end in divorce.

But at what age are you most likely to go wrong?

The average age at which people divorce is 44 years, with most ending a relationship of 10 to about 15 years. People living in a city are more likely to separate than couples living in a village. And that age? It may say something, but what I find even more remarkable is that in 70 percent of cases, the woman takes the initiative. Men tend to linger a bit longer in those relationships that are no longer working, while women think: it's time to go.

The financial impact of a divorce can be significant. It includes the division of assets and debts, determining alimony, and possibly changes in the standard of living. It's nice that women don't shy away from that and just take initiative. There are also periods in the year when divorce is more popular. Most people end their marriage in the spring and summer. March is a good month for a break-up, it turns out, and late August is also popular: after that miserable summer together, the moment of separation is really there.

I am lucky that my parents have been married for 40 years, so I have a particularly beautiful example of how it can be in love. That marriages can indeed succeed. I have only been married for 5 years and yes, of course, sometimes it’s hard work, tough, snapping, and hustling. Not so strange with small children and jobs and everything. But I have every confidence that I belong to that other 60 percent of couples. And fortunately, I am not yet 44 years old, which helps too.
