Incredible: you burn 2,400 calories with one day of skiing

Skiing

Skiing is definitely one of my favorites. The snow, that romantic feeling in the mountains, the air, being outside... It's also good for the figure, it turns out.

It's a pity that I haven't been in years (because: I have babies. And they can't ski. And childcare is a bit pricey there in the Alps).

I love that active and cheerful vibe on a holiday. Hop, you know what you're going to do every day and it doesn't get boring. Red slope, here a blue one, lunch in the sun, a little Jägermeister on the side. A little dance on the left mountain, because yes, someone brings a tray of schnapps and you're not the one to miss out. Cozy in your bed, deep sleep and the next day fresh and fruity on repeat. As far as I'm concerned, absolute luxury. Living in the moment. Forgetting that hauling around with all those heavy skis and boots, moving forward.

But skiing is not just a fun activity, it's also very healthy for you. You burn no less than 400 calories on average per hour. Just add up your day of skiing: of course, you also take breaks and you spend a few minutes here and there in lifts, but with six hours on the slopes, you burn 2,400 calories. That's about your entire daily intake of food and drink. No wonder you suddenly have an intense craving for cheese fondue or a plate of pasta bolo. You've earned it. And burned, that too.

Who is booking for winter 2025? I'm coming along. With baby and all.
