Elvis and Priscilla: a sad dream marriage

By
Elvis and Priscilla Presley

Lisa Marie Presley completely disagreed with the script of the film Priscilla. In several emails, she asked director Sofia Coppola not to portray her father as a manipulative predator. Interesting, because Priscilla herself was heavily involved in the film. It is, after all, based on the book ‘Elvis and Me’, which Priscilla wrote about her love with Elvis. Understandably, Sofia kept her director's stance. Of course, the image of Elvis that is presented is painful to see as a daughter. I found it terrible to watch, and I'm not even an Elvis fan. Having seen the film, I still had some questions. Because how did it go between Elvis and Priscilla again?

Elvis and Priscilla Presley

Image film ‘Priscilla’

1. They were ten years apart in age

2. He fell in love with her when she was 14

3. They were ultimately married for six years

4. Elvis had the Madonna-whore complex. This means he found it difficult to have sex within a long-term relationship. At least, with Priscilla. How it was with all the other women he had, I don't know, but with Priscilla, it was mainly about lying beautifully in bed.

5. When Priscilla was heavily pregnant, Elvis casually suggested putting their relationship on hold

6. Elvis adored Priscilla, but more as a doll. She had to wear what he chose, say what he wanted to hear, always be available, and especially not want to lead her own life.

7. Elvis was never married to anyone else. However, he was engaged to Ginger Alden when he died. She was the one who found him lifeless on the floor of his bathroom in Graceland.

8. Priscilla will always be connected to Elvis Presley, unfortunately at this moment in a sad way. She is contesting the will of the late Lisa Marie Presley (I wrote about her funeral and that, um, bizarre performance by Axl Rose) because it decided to give all the money to her children. Lisa Marie's son has since passed away (what a tragedy), so only Lisa Marie's daughter inherits all the money. At least, everything that is left of what was once a hundred million. Riley Keough (Lisa Marie's daughter) fights back and reveals that Priscilla received $900,000 (per year) from Elvis Presley Enterprises for years, while she has no stake in the company and is not on the payroll.

I had hoped it would be a bit more romantic, but that was against better judgment.
