Good news for thriller fans

This year, Sint is not the only one giving out gifts on December 5th; Netflix is also showering us with presents. From their bag full of new titles, they conjure up the thriller ‘Black Doves’. An exciting series about a spy living a double life who is after one thing: revenge. And with Keira Knightley in the lead role and a touch of Christmas, this is definitely our favorite package.

A web of secrets

Helen Webb (Keira Knightley) lives with her husband and children in London. She leads a perfectly normal life, that is, unless you count her work as a spy. For ten years, she has been passing on all the secrets of her partner, who is a politician, to her dark employer, the Black Doves. Not only that, she has also been with her lover Jason (Andrew Koji) for years. When he is murdered, Helen is also in danger. She receives help from an old friend Sam (Ben Whishaw); a hitman who left his job and London after a botched job. He returns to protect Helen and quickly discovers that the underworld has not been idle. Together, they try to find out who is behind Jason's death. But the threat turns out to be much greater than she could have ever imagined.

Already a success

It is the first time since 2011 that Keira Knightley is starring in a TV series again. From the moment her role was announced, expectations were high. And Netflix has noticed this as well. They have so much confidence in the show that last summer, during the Edinburgh TV Festival, they already announced that a second season will come. This was announced even though there wasn't even a first trailer available at that time. Whether this was a good choice remains to be seen. But the initial reactions seem to dispel any doubts (if there were any) at Netflix. To be continued.
