Halina Reijn is the undisputed queen of the film festival of Venice. Really. Forget Angelina Jolie, Amal Clooney, and Cate Blanchett. The coolest woman who strode from gondola to red carpet is undoubtedly Halina Reijn. If Nicole Kidman honors and showcases you in more than half of her insta posts, and you find yourself in an intimate slow dance with Nicole Kidman on the dance floor, you are the star of the festival.
We know Halina as a gifted actress, but as a director, she takes it a step further. The film Babygirl, starring Nicole Kidman, is the sensation of the festival. The New York Times is tripping over the superlatives, and there is already talk of an Oscar nomination, if not an Oscar.
Although Halina has lived in New York for years, she carries the Netherlands with her. Her loyal friend Geza Weisz traveled with “our” Ella, to Venice, and for her dress, she chose a stunning floor-length gown by Claes Iversen. How delightful is her Instagram, where she candidly says she is ‘really tired’ because “went to bed way too late and woke up way too early but yes, really happy and especially relieved.”
