This extremely weird Christmas movie is now the most viewed film on Netflix

Meanwhile, we are bombarded daily with which new Christmas movies are now available to watch on all streaming services, and somehow you try to keep up a bit because you want to be able to talk about it everywhere. Well, the movie that was just shoved under my nose by our great friend ‘The top 10 of Netflix’ is really everything I think: ‘what on earth am I watching?’
Because it's really fun, that theory about why we love romantic movies so much, but for this movie, that really does not apply at all.

Super awkward to say, but: Gretchen, what happened to you?

I genuinely believe that Gretchen was my favorite ‘Mean Girl’ in the movie, so seeing her like this now is a bit shocking. It seems like she has completely lost it in her adult form. Because I can't imagine that anyone, when they read the script of this movie, thinks: ‘yes, this is going to be a great movie’. With the title ‘Hot Frosty’, there should have been an alarm bell ringing already. Gretchen (okay, her real name is Lacey Chabert, but Gretchen just suits her better) plays a widow in this film, who is quite dreading the lonely Christmas. Luckily, she has a sort of magical scarf, because when she sees a bizarrely handsome polished snowman, she decides to put that scarf around him and that changes her life.

In love... with a... snowman?!

The snowman comes to life because of this and turns into a real man of flesh and blood. And what happens then? They fall in love. Yep. I didn't make it up either. Because come on, guys. No matter how desperately you might be looking for someone to not spend Christmas lonely and alone, falling in love with a snowman goes way too far. And yet there seems to be something about this movie that makes everyone want to see it en masse. We obviously don't know how it ends. In ‘Frozen‘, it was a pretty dramatic moment when Olaf started to melt, but maybe in this movie they live happily ever after. Or the main character wakes up and realizes she had a really weird dream; I really can't imagine a happy ending including a snowman in any way. I guess this movie is mainly at number 1 because everyone tells each other how extremely weird this story is.
