This Dutch island has been declared by CNN as the most beautiful in Europe

Hey, earth to CNN, is everything okay over there? Did you accidentally have a merger with De Speld or The Onion and mix up the articles a bit? I can't think of another reason: yesterday CNN Travel published an article in which they named a Dutch Wadden island as one of the most beautiful in Europe. ‘Perfect for a peaceful getaway’ was read in the article.
Then you might think: is Texel really that beautiful? But wrong, it's not Texel. Ameland then? Not that either. No, CNN is incredibly impressed by… Schiermonnikoog. HAHA. All love for our Wadden islands, but is there seriously anyone who has been to Schiermonnikoog who was really blown away by the splendor there? By the stunning beaches and the beautiful weather? I doubt it, because I think you would be blown towards Ameland or Rottumerplaat if you're not careful.
Yet CNN Travel is not deterred: ‘It is home to only 950 people and has a single village, but Schier, as they call their island, is mainly nature, with dunes and forests and a few of Europe’s pristine beaches.’ locals Yes, you read that right: the pristine beaches of Schiermonnikoog are praised so highly that it is considered one of the most beautiful in Europe. Annemieke Romeijn, who has a holiday home on Schiermonnikoog and was interviewed by CNN, said: ’Besides the beautiful nature and its vastness, there is not much to do on the island. And that is exactly its charm.’
Well, the Wadden islands are indeed special and quite beautiful, but calling Schiermonnikoog one of the most beautiful islands in Europe is a bit much for me personally. And for clarity: this island was ranked number one, leaving Flores (an island that belongs to‘
the beautiful Azores behind), Heimaey (an island near ) and Alicudi near Sicily behind. Still a remarkable choice. IcelandSource: CNN Travel.
