Netflix tip of the day: The Stranger

Can't you get enough of Fool Me Once? I totally understand, because it's an exciting series, although everyone has the same question after watching it. But hey, no series is perfect, and I really didn't see the ending of Fool Me Once coming. And that's what I love; when you spend an episode wondering how something can happen and especially who the culprit is, and then you're still surprised. No, I'm not going to give any spoilers, but I would find it very clever if you saw this plot twist coming.
Of course, that could have been easy if you had read the book of the same name. Fool Me Once is written by author Harlan Coben, and if you love thrillers, this is definitely a name to remember. His books read like a train, they're thrilling and often have a plot twist like Fool Me Once that you don't see coming. If you enjoy Nicci French and Scandinavian detectives, you're definitely going to enjoy this.
But if you prefer to hang out on the couch instead of having your nose in books, then I have a tip for you too: The Stranger on Netflix. Just like Fool Me Once, it's a miniseries, and it's also from the hand of Harlan Coben. Yesss, LOVE it.
The Stranger is about Adam Price, who at first glance leads the perfect life. Two healthy sons, a nice marriage, in other words: the perfect picture. However, quite a bit changes when a stranger approaches him in a bar and overwhelms him with a secret that his wife, Corinne, is keeping from him. This unknown woman appears throughout the series; she seems to know everything about everyone and isn't afraid to blackmail them.
Adam is — understandably — completely in shock by this secret, but he doesn't have much time to deal with it; Corinne goes missing. Adam is convinced that the strange woman who approached him in the bar knows more and is doing everything he can to find her.
Author Harlan Coben is also known as ‘the king of plot twists’ and The Stranger completely lives up to that. Admittedly: just like Fool Me Once, it is a bit far-fetched here and there, but this series keeps your attention, is thrilling and yes: of course ends with a major twist. By the way, don't confuse it with the movie on Netflix that has the same name!
