What happened to this ex of Kate Moss?

By
Kate Moss and Pete Doherty

Last week, Kate Moss turned fifty, and aside from a fountain of beautiful pictures of one of the greatest models ever (figuratively speaking, as Kate is one of the smallest supermodels at 1.67 meters), it was for me the starting signal to dig up her exes. Online, of course, you understand. I was especially curious about Pete Doherty, the singer and songwriter who nearly dragged Kate down with him. Do you remember that photo of Kate snorting cocaine? That was all during her Pete period.

Boring is not a label you can stick on Pete Doherty. He was a brilliant student who won a poetry contest at sixteen and therefore got to go on a sort of cultural tour of Russia with the British embassy. He couldn't move to London fast enough after high school. There, he had a job as, yes, a grave digger at Willesden Cemetery. Pete was mostly found sitting on graves with a book or a notebook in his hands. He started studying literature but dropped out after a year to focus on music. And on drugs. Because what follows is a chain of excesses, creations, attempts to quit, a lot of lawsuits, prison sentences, and loves. He dealt drugs himself and engaged in paid love, and if possible, he would rob his clients to buy drugs. He has told all of this himself.

Kate Moss was not the only top model charmed by Pete. He even had children with Irina Lazareanu and Lindi Hingston.

But, and here comes the moral of the story, when I googled Pete Doherty, I didn't see that heroin chic dandy-like boy, but a cheerful bon vivant in his forties. His cheeks flushed and rounded as a sign of the good life. And what turns out? Pete has been clean for three years, found the love of his life in Katia De Vidas, the keyboardist of his band The Puta Madres. They drove through France in their tour van where they broke down in a small village in Normandy. It was during the corona time and the lockdown ruled life. Doherty and Katia decided to stay there, got married, and had daughter Billie-May last year.

Never say never, but it seems to have the potential for a happy ending, and they lived happily ever after.
