This is the series you should watch if you also enjoyed One Day

There is no one I have spoken to who has watched One Day and stayed dry after the last episode. Then you might really have a heart of stone, because how could you not break here? Yes, One Day is really a Netflix hit again. Good actors with a heartbreaking story that is also filmed in such a way that it hits our emotional chord perfectly. Leave it to Netflix to make us cry like wet rags.
But honestly: sometimes that’s just so nice, right? Sitting on the couch with your ugly crying face inconsolable because you’re sad about fictional characters. That can also be incredibly relieving and sometimes you just want to torment yourself with it. I get that. And that’s why I have the perfect series to watch if you want more of the same.
And the nice thing is: it’s a series you can watch from start to finish. It has multiple seasons because it has already ended. Everyone who has seen it is raving about it (and rightly so, because it’s just a really good series) and has had their heart broken multiple times because of the storylines. I have always found it remarkable that this hasn’t been such a huge hit in the Netherlands; in America, this series was incredibly popular.

I’m talking about the series This Is Us, starring Mandy Moore and Milo Ventimiglia. They play Rebecca and Jack, and you follow them through the years. Just like in One Day, there is a back-and-forth in time: to the past and back to the present. You follow their family with triplets and see their struggles in life. Divorces, saying goodbye, falling in love, having children… Everything comes to the forefront, but especially brace yourself for episode 14 of the second season.
I won’t spoil anything but I can recommend one thing: stock up on tissues, because this is going to break your heart. This Is Us is available to watch on Disney+.
