The 5 unexpectedly beautiful beaches of Europe

With a touch of Italy as a dessert

Of course you have beautiful beaches in Portugal, France, and Italy? But that maybe the most beautiful beach in Norway is located there, you probably didn't think of that. Conde Nast Traveller chose these beaches as the most beautiful in Europe.

Haukland Beach, Lofoten Islands, Norway
When you see the water around these islands, you feel like you're somewhere in the Caribbean, although the water, to be fair, is a bit less warm. But when you're in your kayak, you won't mind that at all. And what a bonus, those intensely long summer days in Scandinavia.

Sveti Stefan, Montenegro
Elizabeth Taylor, Sophia Loren, and Kirk Douglas loved to visit, and you immediately understand why when you're on this island. It's also called the Adriatic Monaco because it consists solely of villas. A typical case of; it costs a few bucks, but...

Fårö Island, Sweden
Ask a Swede where he likes to spend the summer, and there's a good chance he'll mention Fårö. The island is incredibly photogenic, and Ingmar Bergman filmed most of his movies there. Don't expect extensive beach clubs in Ibiza style, but rather a rugged, tranquil landscape. But it's definitely beautiful.

Porthcurno Beach, Cornwall, England
I recently wrote about my desire to go to England, didn't I? This beach at the southernmost tip of Land's End is long and has white sand. The depth of the beach depends on the tides, which has its own charm. The beach is surrounded by high cliffs, making it a truly sheltered bay. It's about a five-hour drive from London.

San Fruttuoso, Liguria, Italy
Then we naturally end with my favorite; Italy. Because no matter how beautiful the aforementioned beaches are, I love a beach with a sunbed under my derrière and a cocktail in my hand. You can only reach this beach by walking from Portofino (my favorite) and find yourself in a beautiful little bay with the most beautiful blue water that begs for a dive.
