The smartest little purchases that make your home look a lot more chic

You really don't have to live in a huge villa for a luxurious home. It's just about what you do with the space you have. Getting smart with your interior? Here's how: small purchases that make your home look a lot more chic.

And some purchases may seem a bit expensive, but they are definitely worth it.

1. The scented candle

Take, for example, a scented candle from the beautiful brand Le Labo. Like the New Classic Candle ‘CYPRÈS 21. Of course, it will cost you a few tens of euros. But that candle looks nice and good on display in your toilet. Or in the hallway. Or on your windowsill. It adorns every home: it looks luxurious and smells luxurious, even if you don't light it right away. What you do need to do is trim the wick. Otherwise, it looks like you never use it, and that is cheap. Even if you don't use it every day for real, because then it will be gone so quickly.

2. The large vase

Think big, not small. Always. Everything looks more expensive and luxurious when it's large. So no small silly vases here and there and a thousand knick-knacks: buy a giant vase with giant flowers or a tree, and place it in your living room. Bam. And make sure it's not a mess, either.

3. Nice hand soap

A soap by your tap from a good brand also works well. This way, you can exude some chic while simply refilling the pump with supermarket soap. Shhh. You buy that bottle once, and it will always be your eye-catcher on your countertop. Also, please put those bottles of Dreft and your all-purpose cleaner somewhere else. It looks so... cleaning store-ish.

4. Beautiful throw

Also worth the investment: a good throw for the couch. It's always in view, and everyone who walks into your home sees it. So no old, worn-out, dirty rugs with threads hanging off. No. Invest in a teddy or soft version in a natural color and always fold it neatly.

5. Coffee table book

For your kitchen, on your countertop, on your table. A large, chic book. Quite expensive, as they cost around a hundred euros. But you usually leave it lying around for years. So worth the money.

6. Good mugs and glasses

Not even that expensive, really. Just a matter of taste and throwing away old junk after so many years. Not all mismatched glasses and mugs and bowls and plates. Buy a set and keep it clean. At Xenos or Hema, you can really find beautiful examples, just look carefully.

7. Area rug

Okay, not a tiny thing, but pay attention. Don't put an old, dirty, gross thing on your living room floor. No. And it's not that expensive in the end; on some sites, you can really find them for a few tens of euros. Good to renew every few years.

8. Scented sticks in your toilet

Nothing is as uncharming as a toilet that smells musty. A house that smells nice is a beautiful house. Now invite those friends over and pop a good Chardo on the table.
