These celebs broke up in 2024

It was another eventful year in the love lives of the celebs. As we approach the end of 2024, yes, we are already counting down to Christmas, it's time to reflect. Quite a few couples called it quits this year. Some more unexpectedly than others. Here’s a rundown of the most notable break-ups.

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez

It might have been the break-up of all break-ups: the separation between Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez. After they broke off their engagement in 2004, we regained hope in love when the couple was spotted together again in 2021. And, sure enough. A year later, the wedding finally happened. Ben and Jen were back together. Until around April and May of this year, when things suddenly went quiet around the couple. The once so intimate Instagram photos were absent. Ben was even regularly spotted with another woman: Kick Kennedy. It was only in August that it was confirmed that the divorce is indeed official and that it’s really over between Bennifer.

Taylor Russell & Harry Styles

Where Harry Styles had often been attracted to slightly older women or linked to Victoria’s Secret models in the past, in 2023 it was actress Taylor Russell (Bones and All) with whom he had something. The two were first spotted together in London last summer, and when they were seen hand in hand a few months later, everyone knew for sure. Harry Styles was no longer single. Still, they both remained very private about their relationship, as well as about the break-up. After the couple took a trip to Japan in April of this year, they decided to take some distance. A month later, they officially broke up.

Kim Kardashian & Odell Beckham Jr.

Falling for the same type as your sister can be quite tricky, yet this doesn’t seem to be a problem for the Kardashians. After Khloe was briefly linked to American football player Odell Beckham Jr. in 2016, she quickly dismissed those rumors. Seven years later, it’s sister Kim who starts something with Odell. The two were first seen together in September 2023. After that, events like the Super Bowl and the Vanity Fair party during the Oscars became their date nights. However, two weeks after the party, their relationship came to an end. Kim now wants to fully focus on her children.

Romeo Beckham & Mia Regan

While his brother Brooklyn has been enjoying married life for a few years now and their parents Victoria and David Beckham celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary, things went a bit less smoothly for Romeo in love. He and model Mia Regan ended their relationship after five years. The two had been together since they were 16, but grew apart. Or as they say themselves, they decided to put each other in the friend zone. Painful.

Halle Bailey & DDG

‘The Little Mermaid’ actress Halle Bailey had been together with rapper DDG, whose full name is Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr., since 2022. She was already a fan of his music before they met, and when that interest turned out to be mutual and he sent her a message, the spark ignited. At the end of 2023, the couple welcomed their son Halo. However, earlier this month, the break-up occurred. In a message on his Instagram Stories, DDG announced that after much thought, they had decided to part ways. They both want to focus on their individual plans and on co-parenting.

Tommy Fury & Molly-Mae Hague

It might have been the most famous Love Island U.K. couple: Tommy Fury & Molly-Mae Hague. The two met in 2019 during the fifth season of the show and eventually came in second. Their relationship seemed to be going well for a long time. In January 2023, they welcomed their daughter Bambi, yes, like the movie, and seven months later, Tommy proposed to Molly-Mae. Just three weeks after their one-year engagement, she announced that they were no longer together. Rumors soon arose that Tommy had cheated, but to this day, they remain mysterious about what really happened.

Billy Ray Cyrus & Firerose

Billy Ray Cyrus stirred quite a bit when he married for the third time in October 2023. This time to the 26 years younger musician Firerose, whose real name is Johanna Rose Hodges. The marriage was short-lived, as in May of this year, Billy Ray filed for divorce again. This quickly turned into a contentious divorce. He called her a fraud: “She wanted to take over my career and life and appropriate the name Cyrus for her own gain. I’ll see you in court,” he wrote on Instagram. By now, the two have settled during a lawsuit and the divorce is officially finalized.
