This ordinary profession was held by Máxima before she became queen

You think you know everything about our queen, and then new facts sometimes emerge that make you think: wow, how nice this is. How delightful. For example, we suddenly discovered what our very favorite Máx was doing long before she started cutting ribbons.
That profession is really something you wouldn't expect. We know (especially from the series Máxima on Videoland) that she grew up in Argentina and that when she met Willem-Alexander in New York, she was working at Deutsche Bank. After her economics degree at the University of Buenos Aires and a master's degree in the United States, she worked in the financial sector. Máxima also worked at Boston Securities S.A. in Buenos Aires from 1992 to 1995. That was about investments and stock exchanges and those kinds of intelligent matters. Not so surprising, because we already knew this, but… Besides that job, Máx also taught English to both children and adults and math to high school students and first-year college students during that same period. Her work experience and involvement in education show her versatility and her dedication to both professional development and community engagement. So she was once a teacher.
Willem-Alexander and Máxima met during the Seville Spring Fair in Spain in April 1999. At that time, Máxima was working in New York for the Inter-American Development Bank. Willem-Alexander was in Seville for the annual feria, a traditional Spanish festival. They were introduced by mutual friends in a bar, where they met for the first time. There was a spark between them, and they started seeing each other more often. Their relationship blossomed and was later publicly announced, leading to their engagement and ultimately their wedding on February 2, 2002. But the queen was once a teacher, and we find it just too delightful to know about her.
