This ‘summery’ island seems like a good choice, but it rains more than you think

By

Nice and warm: but it's not guaranteed to be sunny. Sometimes you think, this can't be anything but pleasantly summery. But then in reality, it can be quite disappointing: on this island, it secretly rains quite a bit.

When you book a vacation, you dream of sun-drenched beaches, blue skies, and perfect weather. Bikini on and go. Unfortunately, some destinations may not meet your expectations, especially if the weather turns out to be unexpectedly rainy. One such vacation spot that seems like a great choice, but where more rain falls than you would think, is Bali. The island attracts millions of tourists each year looking for a tropical paradise. But then you notice, when you are there, that it is often wet.

The misleading factor when planning a vacation to Bali is the rainy season, which runs from November to March. During this period, the island can experience significant rainfall, sometimes leading to flooding and disruptions of vacation plans. Although the temperatures are still warm, it is not really a nice beach day with that rain. The rain can be sudden and heavy, often without much warning. From now on, you know well when you should skip Bali. Better save your money for a good and sunny timing, right?

Where should you go instead?

If you are looking for a sunny destination without the risk of much rain, consider alternative locations during the same period:

  • Thailand (west coast): Places like Phuket and Krabi generally have less rain during this period than Bali.
  • Caribbean: Many islands in the Caribbean offer a dry and sunny climate at this time of year.
  • Australia (south coast): The southern coast of Australia, such as Sydney and Melbourne, has a warm summer climate without heavy rainfall.
