Will it keep being gloomy all summer or will we get some sunny days?

It feels like autumn instead of summer. Everyone can complain about the same thing: the weather. And honestly, this year is not exactly cooperating. It rains, it rains a lot. It’s also not exactly scorching hot for the month of July. And this is our summer. Will it get any better or will we keep struggling with a ray of sunshine here and there, and especially a lot of rain and clouds?

For the first half of July, the weather models showed a high chance of changeable weather, with slightly more precipitation than normal. And we have noticed that. Friday and Saturday are not looking too good: changeable, rain, cold for this time of year with only 16 degrees. Fortunately, after rain comes sunshine. The wind will shift, and that means warmer air is coming our way after this weekend. In the second half of July, when all schools are on summer vacation, the chance of summer days increases. The temperature will be around or slightly above the normal of 22-25 degrees. And on some days, if the wind is favorable, it will quickly be warmer than 25 degrees. Extreme heat of more than 35 degrees is not on the agenda for now, but slightly better weather than what we have had so far is expected.

The unfortunate thing is: this is a typical weather pattern for the Netherlands. Rain and some cooler days are part of it; that’s our climate. But the good news is that the second half of this month looks at least sunnier in the forecasts. And August? We’ll see about that later. But grab those warm days when you can, because there aren’t many of them this year.
