You don't have to walk 10,000 steps at all
This is the ideal number

For a while, the ideal of 10,000 steps per day was considered the holy grail for a long and healthy life. At least if you don't go walking on the tram line. For many people, especially those without dogs (did you know that sleeping next to your dog is better than sleeping next to your loved one) among us, 10,000 steps is quite a challenge to achieve. And I get that. After a long walk with my dog, I often only reach about 3,500 steps, so I can imagine that if you don't really have a goal (and if it keeps raining like it has the past few months), you won't reach the goal, resulting in your motivation disappearing like a glass of wine for an alcoholic.
Good news
Researchers from Radboud UMC have figured out that you can already significantly reduce the risk of premature death and cardiovascular diseases with just 8,800 steps. And that might be just a bit more achievable than those 10,000.
And it's not raining for a moment, so enjoy walking, people.
