A Rage Room is super awkward, and yet you want to try it

Maybe you've been there before, or it's something that’s on your list of ‘fun bachelorette activities’, but rage rooms have become a concept. If you haven't heard of them before: they are special rooms that you can rent to smash everything in sight with various tools. You can think of a baseball bat, axe, sledgehammer, or something else that breaks easily. The idea is that you can smash the entire contents of a living room to pieces in those rooms, so you can release all your pent-up anger before you explode in the outside world.

It sounds hilarious, but some people take it very seriously

Some people enjoy doing it as a group activity for a party or team outing, but there are also people who have made it a regular appointment. As if you’re going to the beautician, just to smash everything weekly. Still, I wonder if it really serves its purpose that way. It seems so awkward to me, if you have a cheerful, happy day, to get yourself angry in a closed space wearing a jumpsuit and safety goggles. Just because the appointment is in your calendar, while you would actually just enjoy your day in a nice way if that wasn’t the case.

Especially outside of the Netherlands, it is super popular

The concept seems to have been invented in Japan: overworked business people can vent all their frustrations from long and stressful workdays without the risk of getting fired. Quite nice. On the other hand, you might think that it’s maybe a good time to quit your job, if you become so aggressive from your boss/colleagues/work that you need to regularly destroy everything around you. But hey, trying out what it’s like to move through a room like Harley Quinn might also be fun.
