Just about that alcohol ban in Thailand:
So I don't have to go there anymore

I have been to many Asian countries: China, Vietnam, Singapore and Malaysia. Thailand has always been high on my list, with an emphasis on printed with seafood. Oh, how everything. Because since that strange news today, I don't have to anymore. And that has everything to do with the imposed alcohol ban.
The alcohol ban in Thailand
Here's the thing: the Thai government wants to curb alcohol abuse, which I can understand. But the rule they came up with is quite peculiar. From 11:00 to 14:00 you can drink – seems a bit early to me, but who am I? But from 14:00 to 17:00 you absolutely cannot drink. absolutely not drink. After that, from 17:00 to midnight, you can get completely wasted again.

If you are caught after 14:00 with a beer in your hand, or if you haven't finished that glass of rosé from lunch, you could get a fine of €270. And that's no small amount.
There is a lot of unrest among restaurant owners who see their business drying up – and that while they were already supposed to recover from the corona measures. They are asking the current prime minister to reconsider the measure, so who knows, there might be a relaxation of the legislation in 2026.
That has nothing to do with alcohol itself, although I do like to sip a drink during lunch while on vacation. But mainly with the fact that someone else decides this for me and with the ambiguity and ineffectiveness of these rules. If you were to say that someone may not consume more than a certain number of alcoholic beverages per day, I could understand that (although it's hard to measure, I know). But to set the clock to such a bizarre schedule – I don't understand that, and it takes away my Thailand lust.

I still remember being in Turkey and not being able to access Wikipedia. I was in Dubai when we were discussing an article about “ Amayzine soft porn for women“”. I wanted to go to that site to check the article, but I couldn't access it because apparently, you can't visit a soft-porn site for women in Dubai. That government interference is breathing down my neck during such vacations. Even though the fresh coconut tastes so good and that massage on the beach is so divine, I had no desire to be locked into a time slot where I may or may not drink.”And even though that Mai Tai is undoubtedly exceptionally delicious, I will always have a nasty aftertaste in my mouth.
