But what about P. Diddy?

Can everyone raise their hand who has ever fantasized about what it is like to be famous? We all did that, right? The older you get, the more you realize that it probably isn't as great as you once thought. It's not surprising that celebs occasionally take a break. Cameron Diaz is one of them. For over ten years, she disappeared from Hollywood, until now. With the action-comedy ‘Back in Action’, she is back and successfully so: the film is storming the Netflix top 10. But this new attention also means that the rest of her private life is back under a magnifying glass.

Partners in crime

In ‘Back in Action’, we follow ex-CIA agents Matt (Jamie Foxx) and Emily (Cameron Diaz). After a failed mission, they decide to leave their work behind and build a new life somewhere else under a different name. For fifteen years, they lead a quiet life, focusing on their family. That changes when their cover is blown and now their children also become targets of old enemies. Matt and Emily will have to return to their roles as spies to finish the mission from back then. This time with an extra challenge: protecting their children. And of course, the question remains who they can and cannot trust.

The comeback of Cameron

After her role in ‘Annie’ in 2014, where Jamie Foxx also starred, she decided Cameron to say goodbye to Hollywood. She wanted to focus more on her relationship with guitarist Benji Madden and their family. The couple now has two children; daughter Raddix and son Cardinal. A bit like in the movie, then. Why did she return to the film industry after more than ten years? Jamie convinced her. “If I were to leave my family for ten hours a day, I wanted to do it with the most talented man in the entertainment industry,” Cameron said on ‘The Graham Norton Show’. It was a new opportunity that she felt she couldn't pass up. “That the door was still open for me after ten years was amazing. I enjoyed those ten years for myself and my family, but I thought: ‘If I let this go, if I don't engage with it anymore and if I don't give it a chance, I'm a fool.”" Director Seth Gordon had never thought of casting her; he thought she would never be interested in his film. Thanks to Jamie, we can now see this golden duo back in action. Although critics don't find the comeback very strong, the audience is mega enthusiastic. The film has been number one on Netflix since its release. The creators are even cautiously fantasizing about a sequel.

P. Diddy-gate

Now that Cameron is fully back in the spotlight, her private life and past are also back under a magnifying glass; especially her time with P. Diddy. With the ongoing case against the rapper, everything even remotely related to him is being thoroughly investigated. This also applies to the ‘relationship’ with Cameron. The two were first spotted together in 2008. Although they seemed to have a great time, it never turned into an official relationship. When Cameron broke up with baseball player Alex Rodriguez in 2011, the rumor mill started turning again. For two years, the actress was regularly spotted with Diddy, but even then they never made it official. However, Diddy seemed to confirm in 2014 that something was indeed going on between them. An insider around the rapper told ‘US Weekly’ that he was quite upset that Cameron had started a relationship with Benji Madden. “If I could turn back time, everything would be different now,” he reportedly said. Despite all the ambiguity surrounding the ‘relationship’, the actress is being closely monitored to see if she reveals anything about Diddy and his case, but so far it remains silent. All attention for her new film will therefore be more than welcome.

‘Back in Action’ is now available on Netflix.
